Since 2006, Realscreen have shared their listing of the top production companies working in non-fiction and unscripted screen content, compiled by Realscreen‘s editorial staff with input from the industry itself. As with last year’s compendium, the 2025 edition of our Global 100 — available online here at realscreen.com, exclusively sponsored by Wrapbook — presents the goods in a series of 10 Top Ten lists representing different areas of the business, from specific genres to buyers’ and producers’ picks of their most favored partners.
This year’s Global 100 wraps up with 10 prodcos that scored consistently high marks from their broadcast and platform partners, who singled them out for praise for any number of factors: reliability, inventiveness, a combination of high production value with rigorous budget-consciousness, and, no less important, just how easy they are to work with.
Realscreen said:
"London-headquartered Talesmith has been carving out a name for itself in the natural history space with such recent series as Gladiators (Love Nature/Sky), which focuses on the animal kingdom's fiercest rivalries, and the just-launched Secrets of the Penguins (pictured), for Nat Geo/Disney+/Hulu, executive produced by James Cameron.
In addition to its wildlife projects, the company is also behind the Roku original docuseries Games That Rock the World, which delves into the history of the multibillion-dollar video game industry and explores its most popular genres and iconic titles."
"Talesmith is one of the most creative and collaborative production companies I've had the pleasure to work with in blue-chip natural history/specialist factual. They know how to pull a strong creative team together and lead them with both vision and compassion," one network EP told Realscreen. "They know their strengths and play to them, but are savvy enough to know where outside support will do nothing but elevate the end result."
